DALLAS – Jose Luis Sanchez's third career goal proved to be vital on Saturday
The freshman forward scored in the 46th minute of a 1-0 win over Paul Quinn College.
The win moved the Jaguars (8-1-1, 6-1-0) into a four-way tie for first place in the Red River Athletic Conference with Texas A&M-San Antonio, Xavier (La.) and Louisiana Christian heading into the final six matches of the regular season.
Daniel Connell provided the assist on Sanchez's goal. It was the second assist of the season for the graduate senior from Whaley Bridge, England.
UHV had six different players with multiple shots on Saturday, including Sanchez. Klaidas Pudlauskas led the team with three shot attempts with two on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli posted four saves against the Tigers (0-11, 0-8) to pick up his sixth shutout of the season, which leads the RRAC.
The Jaguars return home to face LSU Alexandria at 3:30 p.m. Thursday for the team's annual Pink Out game.
