HOBBS, N.M. – Karlo Lopez picked a perfect time to notch his first goal of the year.
The graduate senior scored a 78th-minute winner in a 3-2 victory over University of the Southwest on Thursday at Bob Moran Field.
It was the sixth career game-winning goal for the Corpus Christi native.
The Jaguars (7-1-1, 5-1-0) extended their winning streak to four matches with the win.
UHV led 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Matthew Albury (Ryan Naidoo assist) and Mateo Canales (Diby Kouassi assist) in the 35th and 41st minutes, respectively.
It was the second goal of the year for Albury and fifth for Canales, which ties the team lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli made three saves in the win.
The Jaguars rallied for the two first-half goals after conceding the game's opening goal to the Mustangs' Sebastian Gutierrez in the 23rd minute.
Southwest (0-8-1, 0-7-0) leveled the match at 2-2 in the 59th minute with a goal from Richard Wohl before Lopez scored the winner 19 minutes later.
UHV travels to Dallas on Saturday to face Paul Quinn College at 3:30 p.m.
