The UHV men's soccer team mustered two comeback bids, but couldn't find a third on Thursday.
The Jaguars fell 3-2 to Our Lady of the Lake University at The Cage despite outshooting the Saints and a pair of goals by Einar Rolfsen.
The sophomore striker from Gjerdrum, Norway, picked up his first in the 15th minute by finishing off a shot from Baillie O'Reilly which bounced off the post and to the feet of Rolfsen, who made it 1-1 at the time.
Then, Adam Thompson played a beautiful through ball to Rolfsen in the 48th minute to bring UHV (7-6-2, 5-6-1) level again at 2-2.
With the two goals, Rolfsen now shares the team lead with Dario Elsen with each scoring five times for the Jaguars this year.
UHV took 15 shots compared to 11 for OLLU (5-11-1, 4-7-1).
The Saints got goals from Tim Talabi in the seventh minute, Andres Rocha in the 17th and Nicolas Murgas in the 74th with the eventual game-winner.
The Jaguars now head to Texas A&M-San Antonio needing a win, or a loss from either OLLU, Jarvis Christian or Texas A&M-Texarkana, to clinch a spot in next week's Red River Athletic Conference tournament.
