HAWKINS – You'll be hard-pressed to find a player having a better run than UHV men's soccer freshman Dario Elsen.
Elsen scored each of UHV's goals Saturday in a 2-2 draw against Red River Athletic Conference foe Jarvis Christian to help the Jaguars (3-0-2, 1-0-1) maintain their unbeaten run to open the season.
With the two goals on Saturday, the Weywertz, Belgium, native has scored five times in the last three matches for the Jaguars. During their road trip to face Texas College and Jarvis Christian (2-3-1, 1-0-1), the midfielder contributed on each of UHV's five goals with two goals in each game and an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Steers.
Elsen opened the scoring in the 26th minute before adding his second in the 47th. Jarvis answered with equalizers in the 44th and 52nd minutes. Junior Baillie O'Reilly provided the assist on each goal, upping his team-leading total to four.
Junior goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli got the decision in goal for the Jaguars and saw his season record move to 2-0-1 with the draw.
UHV returns home to face LSU Shreveport on Thursday, Sept. 26, and Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday, Sept. 28.
