TEXARKANA, TX – A goal late in the first half proved to be enough for the UHV men's soccer team on the road Saturday.
Philipp Kueck's 45th-minute goal on Jose Luis Sanchez's assist stood as the game-winning goal in a 2-1 result against Texas A&M-Texarkana in Red River Athletic Conference play. It was the sophomore center back's first career-goal. It was one of two shots on goal for Kueck.
With the win, the Jaguars improved to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the RRAC.
Einar Rolfsen provided the equalizer in the 18th minute when he finished off a pass from Carlos Quinones. It was the freshman's fourth goal of the season and first since Sept. 7 against Wiley College.
The Norwegian striker led the team with five of UHV's nine shots against the Eagles, including two shots on goal.
Rolfsen's goal came in response to an eighth-minute goal by Josh Bakare for the Eagles (4-5-0, 2-2-0).
UHV will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 30, with a 3:30 p.m. conference matchup with Huston-Tillotson at The Cage.
