WAXAHACHIE – Einar Rolfsen didn't take long to make his impact felt in Thursday's season opener.
Playing 13 minutes off the bench, the Norwegian sophomore scored off an assist from Baillie O'Reilly in the 83rd minute to salvage a 1-1 draw with Nelson University on the road for UHV (0-0-1). The goal came seven minutes after he re-entered the game in the second half.
It was the sixth career goal in 10 games for Rolfsen, who also scored in last year's meeting with the Lions (1-0-2).
UHV peppered Nelson's defense with seven shots, including three on goal – one each from Rolfsen, Osiel Robledo and Carlos Quinones. Rolfsen and Robledo had a team-high two shots each.
The Jaguars fell behind in the 27th minute after Nelson's Ethan Stewart found the back of the net. But that would be the only threat UHV faced with the Jaguars' back line limiting the Lions to two shots on goal.
UHV continues its season-opening road trip at Texas Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
