Men’s soccer puts two on CSC Academic All-District® Team
Two UHV men's soccer players had their academic work honored on Tuesday.
Seniors Adam Thompson and Archie Mills were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be considered, student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or better. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
"Our coaching staff is extremely proud of these student-athletes' success in the classroom," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "It speaks volumes to the commitment of being a student first and then followed by being an athlete at UHV. All the student-athletes have excelled in the classroom while being impact players on the field, and we couldn't be prouder!"
Thompson, a sport management major from Portsmouth, England, appeared in all 16 matches for the Jaguars this season, scoring a career-high three goals and two assists to close out his four-year career in Victoria. He was a member of UHV's 2021 Red River Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion team.
Mills, a psychology major from Ascot, England, also appeared in all 16 matches for UHV in his senior season this year, scoring twice and providing a pair of assists. During his freshman season, Mills scored in UHV's 3-2 win over LSU Alexandria to clinch the RRAC Tournament title. Mills' ballot was advanced for CSC Academic All-America® consideration.
