The UHV men's soccer team will look to get back in the win column this week with a road trip to New Orleans and Houston.
The Jaguars (8-3-1, 6-3-0) will face conference newcomers Xavier (La.) and North American University. UHV will face the Gold Rush (9-2-0, 8-1-0) at Lafreniere Park in Metaire at 3:30 p.m. Thursday before facing the Stallions (5-6-0, 4-5-0) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Dulles High School.
UHV is hoping to turn the page from a pair of losses to LSU Alexandria and Louisiana Christian last week.
In the two matches last week, Mateo Canales and Klaidas Pudlauskas each registered a team-leading three shots.
Canales shares the team lead in goals (5) with Yahir Pena and Einar Rolfsen.
UHV enters the week with one of the Red River Athletic Conference's best defenses. The Jaguars have posted six shutouts this season, which shares first place with Xavier, and have a goals against average of 0.96, which is second-best in the RRAC behind Xavier.
This will be the Jaguars' first meeting all-time with the Gold Rush, who have won their last two matches. UHV earned a 1-0 non-conference win over the Stallions last year in their first meeting.
UHV enters the week one game behind fourth-place LSUA. The top four teams in the conference standings will host the opening round of the RRAC Tournament.
