The UHV men's soccer team is hoping to build off a road win last week when it hosts Red River Athletic Conference foe Huston-Tillotson at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Jaguars (4-1-1, 2-1-1) are coming off a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Texas A&M-Texarkana last Saturday.
Einar Rolfsen, a freshman forward, and Philipp Kueck, a sophomore defender, scored UHV's goals in the win with Kueck's first career goal serving as the game-winner. It was the fourth goal of the season for Rolfsen.
Yahir Pena, a freshman forward from Pharr, shares the conference lead with five goals after scoring in a 2-1 loss to LSU Shreveport on Sept. 21.
Ryan Naidoo, a graduate senior, and Jose Luis Sanchez, a freshman, share third place in the conference with four assists apiece. Sanchez provided the assist on Kueck's goal Saturday.
The Jaguars' 3.67 goals per game average leads the conference while the team's 22 goals this season ranks third.
UHV has scored in each of its first six games, marking the fourth time in program history the team has accomplished such a feat. The Jaguars won the RRAC and advances to the NAIA tournament in the previous three seasons.
The Jaguars are unbeaten in their last 11 home matches.
The Rams (1-3-0, 0-2-0) come into Saturday after a 7-0 loss to LSU Shreveport.
This is the 15th meeting all-time between UHV and Huston-Tillotson with the Jaguars holding a 10-2-2 advantage. UHV won last year's meeting 2-0.
Saturday is also Youth Soccer Appreciation Weekend (rescheduled from Sept. 16). All kids wearing either a UHV soccer camp shirt or their youth soccer jersey get in free with a paid adult ticket.
