The UHV women's soccer team tried, but couldn't find its knockout punch on Saturday.
The Jaguars fell 3-2 to Louisiana Christian at The Cage despite rallying for two spectacular first-half goals to take a 2-1 lead at the break.
After falling behind 1-0 in the 12th minute on a goal from Louisiana Christian's Taylor Shanas, UHV (5-4-5, 3-3-3) responded one minute later when Kaitlyn Kongdara scored straight from a corner kick.
It was the third goal of the season for the junior from Fort Worth.
The Jaguars took the lead in the 31st minute when Andrea Aborqui rocketed a shot just under the crossbar from well outside the penalty area with Kaydee Cox providing the assist. It was the third goal of the season for the graduate transfer, as well.
The Wildcats (9-2-0, 7-2-0) leveled the match in the 59th minute on a free kick from Maria Alonso Lopez. Emma Monnet scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute.
The Jaguars out-shot LCU 7-6, including shots from Cox and Camden Garner in the final 14 minutes of the game.
This is the second consecutive loss for the Jaguars, who will be on the road to face Xavier (La.) and North American next week.
