The UHV women's soccer team's season came to an end on Saturday.
The Jaguars fell 2-1 to Texas A&M-San Antonio at The Cage. UHV (6-7-5, 4-6-3), which was battling for the eighth and final spot in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament, needed either a win or a loss by University of the Southwest, which beat Paul Quinn College.
After falling behind 1-0 a minute before halftime, Andrea Aborqui leveled the match in the 75th minute with her fifth goal of the season.
TAMUSA's (8-2-4, 7-2-4) Ana Barragan scored her second goal of the match in the 85th minute to give the visitors the victory.
Senior midfielder Meghan Matcek had a team-high two shots on goal. Clara Strand also had two shot attempts.
Freshman goalkeeper Franciezca Blancaflor made five saves in the loss. It's the third time in the last four matches the Salado native recorded five or more saves.
Saturday marked the end of the UHV careers for Aborqui, Matcek, Jasmine Garcia, Melanie Garcia, Sofia Skyriotis and Katerin Morales.
