SHREVEPORT, La. – The UHV women's soccer team managed a scoreless draw on the road at LSU Shreveport on Thursday.
With the result, the Jaguars record moved to 3-0-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference, and the team's regular season unbeaten streak moved to 13 games.
UHV managed five shots, including three on goal. The Jaguars' had two great opportunities to break the deadlock in the final six minutes of the match, first with a shot by Kaydee Cox in the 85th minute and then a shot by Meghan Matcek in the 89th, both of which were saved by Carlota Alcalde for the Pilots (2-3-2, 0-1-2).
Cox, Matcek, Trine Stenderup-Jorgensen, Chloe Spencer and Kaitlyn McCarty each had a shot in Thursday's game.
Junior goalkeeper Hayli Nichols made one save, a pivotal one in the 88th minute on a shot by LSU Shreveport's Alba Martinez to preserve the clean sheet. It's the third shutout of the year for the Forney native.
The Jaguars next travel to Texas A&M-Texarkana for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday.
