LONGVIEW – A strong second half lifted the UHV women's soccer team to a historic mark.
The Jaguars picked up a 7-0 win over Texas College at Lear Park in Longview on Thursday. All seven goals came in the second half of Thursday's Red River Athletic Conference opener.
With the win, UHV improves to 4-0 overall for the second time in the program's 15-year history and first time since 2016 when the team set the single-season wins record with 12.
Estelle Flanagan opened her scoring account for the 2024 season with a pair of goals against the Steers (0-2, 0-1). The McKinney native finished passes from Luz Capuchino and Alva Klockare for her 21st and 22nd career goals at UHV.
Kyleigh Spree-Kolos opened the scoring for the Jaguars (4-0, 1-0) with the first career assist from Klockare. The Borlange, Sweden, native later assisted Aoife Saunders' first career goal at UHV.
Flanagan and Spree-Kolos now share the team-lead in goals scored with two apiece.
Joining Saunders in opening their UHV scoring accounts were Arianna Rios, Vivian Rangel and Yuvier Borjas on assists from Trine Stenderup-Jorgensen, Cheyenne Grant and Kaydee Cox, respectively.
Hayli Nichols earned her third shutout of the season and continues to share the national lead in goals against average with a perfect 0.00 mark.
The Jaguars wrap up their road trip on Saturday against Jarvis Christian at 1 p.m. in Hawkins, Texas.
