Women’s soccer lands two on CSC Academic All-District® Team
Two UHV women's soccer players had their efforts in the classroom recognized on Tuesday.
Senior Estelle Flanagan and sophomore Trine Stenderup-Jorgensen were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom with a minimum GPA requirement of 3.5. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
"Our coaching staff is extremely proud of these student-athletes' success in the classroom," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "It speaks volumes to the commitment of being a student first and then followed by being an athlete at UHV. All the student-athletes have excelled in the classroom while being impact players on the field, and we couldn't be prouder!"
Flanagan, a business management major, had a standout senior season, racking up eight goals and four assists in 17 appearances and 16 starts. The forward from McKinney was an All-Red River Athletic Conference second team selection following a year in which she helped UHV to its third-highest win total (11) this season and set the new individual career records for Games Played (76) and Games Started (69). It was her fourth time being recognized with postseason honors by the conference.
Stenderup-Jorgensen, a defender from Aabenraa, Denmark, earned an All-RRAC honorable mention nod after anchoring a strong back line which held a 1.29 Goals Allowed Average and boasted seven shutouts. The biology major also scored once and provided four assists from her center back position this year. She was also advanced to CSC Academic All-America® consideration, as well.
