The UHV women's soccer team will face one of its toughest tests Saturday when the team travels to Texas A&M-Texarkana.
The Jaguars (3-0-3, 1-0-1) enter Saturday's 1 p.m. kickoff after a scoreless draw at LSU Shreveport in Red River Athletic Conference play. The draw extended their regular season unbeaten run to 13 matches, which is a program record.
Junior goalkeeper Hayli Nichols picked up her third shutout of the year after making one save on an 88th-minute shot against LSU Shreveport. Including the first 36 minutes and 14 seconds of Sept. 16's suspended game against Jarvis Christian (rescheduled to Oct. 2), UHV has held opponents scoreless for the last 303 minutes and 34 seconds it has played.
UHV's 1.00 goals against average ranks fourth in the conference.
Freshman forward Kaydee Cox had a shot in the 85th minute of Thursday's match, upping her total to a team-leading 13 this season. The Jaguars lead the conference in shots per game with 23.6.
Saturday will be the eighth meeting all-time between UHV and the Eagles (8-0-0, 3-0-0). Texas A&M-Texarkana holds the series edge, winning four of the previous seven matches.
The Eagles, who were selected as preseason favorites to win the RRAC by the coaches, are coming off a 7-2 win over Huston-Tillotson on Thursday.
