UHV’s Biais, Bickelmann sweep first RRAC Golfer of the Week awards
WACO – Both Emmily Bickelmann and Nathan Biais turned in strong performances at UHV's Claud Jacobs Invitational last week.
For that, the duo swept the first Red River Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week awards of the season. It's the first time since March 5, 2024, that UHV has swept the conference weekly awards.
"I'm really excited both Emmily and Nathan were recognized by the conference," said head coach Garrett Adair. "Both work extremely hard in practice and it shows on the course. I look forward to see how they build on their performances throughout our spring schedule."
Biais, a sophomore from Chassors, France, closed the Claud Jacobs Invitational at the Victoria Country Club with a bogey-free 68 (-4) to finish in the Top 15 in the final results. The 2024 NAIA All-American had seven total birdies while posting scores of 73-76-68 in the three-round tournament. The 17th-ranked Jaguars placed second in the team standings.
Biais was the 2024 RRAC Tournament individual champion after setting a new program record for lowest score in a conference tournament.
"I'm honored to receive this recognition," Biais said. "I hope we can continue to build momentum this spring and make another trip to nationals."
Bickelmann finished eighth in the women's standings at the Claud Jacobs Invitational at The Club at Colony Creek. The senior from Weisbaden, Germany, recorded rounds of 79-75 for a total of 154. It's the third Top 10 finish this season for Bickelmann, who carded three birdies between the two rounds.
Her performance set the pace for the Jaguars, who finished fourth (330-330—360) at the tournament.
"I'm grateful to win this award," Bickelmann said. "This means a lot to win it. I want to use this to continue to build throughout this season and hopefully close the year strong."
The final round of the Schreiner Shoot-Out was called off due to hazardous winds.
