Dakiche paces Jags to second-place finish in opening tournament
WESTWORTH VILLAGE, TX -- The No. 19-ranked UHV men's golf team finished second in its first tournament of the season thanks, in part, to three under-par scores from a new face.
Enzo Dakiche, a sophomore transfer from Wayland Baptist, fired a 71-68-70—209 (-7) as the Jaguars finished second at the Texas Intercollegiate hosted by Texas Wesleyan at Hawks Creek Golf Club on Tuesday.
The stellar tournament from the Paris, France, native led to a T-2nd finish in his debut for UHV and a selection to the All-Tournament team.
The Jaguars finished second behind the host Rams after a three-round score of 863 (287-285-291). Dating back to the 2022-23 season, it's the seventh tournament in which the Jaguars finished fifth or better as a team.
Freshman Nathan Biais, of Chassors, France, also turned in a Top 10 finish in his debut with the Jaguars, finishing T-6th after a 68-71-73—212 (-4).
Sophomore Paul Chopin had an 18th place finish after rounds of 75-71-73—219.
Richman Houston carded a 225 (73-77-75) for the tournament while Joshua Van Der Wath turned in a 228 (75-75-78).
The Jaguars will next compete at the Waco River Classic Sept. 18-19.
