No. 15 Jags finish second at Schreiner Shoot-Out
KERRVILLE – A consistent second day helped the No. 15-ranked UHV men's golf team to a second-consecutive second-place finish on Tuesday.
Three rounds of 74 from Enzo Dakiche – named Red River Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week on Tuesday – Paul Chopin and Joshua Van Der Wath helped the Jaguars (301-298—599) erase a three-stroke deficit behind Red River Athletic Conference foe Texas A&M-San Antonio and finish second at the Schreiner Shoot-Out held at The Club at Comanche Trace.
UHV led the field of primarily NCAA Division III opponents with 25 between the two days.
Dakiche (73-74—147, 7th) and Chopin (75-74—149, T-8) each had Top 10 finishes in Kerrville. Van Der Wath sat just outside the top 10 in T-11 after shooting 77-74—151 on the Par 72 course.
Nathan Biais was inside the top 20 at T-17 following rounds of 76-76—152.
Dakiche, who won the Claud Jacobs Invitational last week, and Biais each had an eagle in the tournament.
Hayden Hardwick finished T-31 after rounds of 79-78—157.
UHV will next travel to Laughlin Ranch Golf Club in Arizona March 25-26 to compete in The Battle at Laughlin Ranch.
