SAN ANTONIO – The UHV softball team was swept in its doubleheader at No. 1-ranked Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday.
The Jaguars fell 4-0 and 8-0 in five innings at the OLLU Softball Field.
UHV (22-8, 10-4) struggled against the Saints' (37-1, 14-0) pitching staff, which leads the nation in ERA, mustering four hits between the two games.
Madysin Leighton had the Jaguars' lone hit in Game 1 while Kenzie Chambers, Alana Ortega and Eryn Sanchez had hits in Game 2.
Cameron Cowan and Anyssia Mendoza suffered the losses in the pitcher's circle on Thursday.
Cowan allowed four runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Mendoza allowed four runs on six hits in two innings.
Hope Quinones came on for Mendoza and threw two innings of relief in which she did not allow an earned run. Alexi Wade allowed two runs in the fifth inning.
The Jaguars return home Tuesday, April 2, to face Texas A&M-San Antonio for Senior Day with the doubleheader scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
