The UHV softball team dropped both games of a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader to No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
The Jaguars fell 7-2 in Game 1 and 5-0 in Game 2.
Deeandra Maldonado provided UHV's lone RBI with a single to left field in the fourth inning to score Allison Snedeker. Claire Blinka later stole home after Maldonado attempted to steal second but retreated to first on the throw to second base. Maldonado was 2-for-3 in Game 1.
Blinka had hits in each of the two games to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. The Port Lavaca native finished 3-for-6 at the plate after a two-hit performance in Game 2.
Snedeker, Kenzie Chambers and Jordan Jones each had hits on Saturday. Chambers stole three bases in Saturday's doubleheader, upping her NAIA-leading total to 26 this season.
Audrie Sayas and Hope Quinones each took losing decisions in the circle for the Jaguars (11-9, 4-2).
Aracely Guzman continued her scoreless streak out of the bullpen in Game 2, pitching two shutout innings and striking out a career-high three batters.
The Jaguars go on the road to Gulf Shores, Ala., next week for the Gulf Coast Invitational. They open the tournament at 10:15 a.m. on Friday vs. No. 22-ranked Southeastern (Fla.).
