Claire Blinka has easily settled into the leadoff spot in UHV's batting order.
After switching to the one-hole last week at the Gulf Coast Invitational, the Port Lavaca native continued to hit the cover off the ball, going 5-for-6 with five RBIs and a home run as the Jaguars swept Jarvis Christian, 12-1 and 8-2, in Red River Athletic Conference play.
Blinka has now hit safely in the last 19 games and 25 of the 26 games this year.
The Jaguars (14-12, 6-2) run-ruled the Bulldogs (3-7, 2-6) in five innings in Game 1 thanks to a two-RBI performance by Blinka.
VeJeigh Zamora, who had a two-run triple in the fourth, and Deeandra Maldonado also had multi-RBI showings in the first game at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex. Kenzie Chambers and Fayth Hoover each went 3-for-3 in Game 1.
Audrie Sayas earned the win in Game 1, tossing four shutout innings in which she allowed just two hits while striking out three. Keira Reis came on in the fifth to seal the win in the circle.
Blinka finished a triple shy of the cycle in Game 2. Her sixth inning blast put UHV up 7-1 at the time and was her third home run this season.
Jasmine Canales and Maldonado had the Jaguars' two other RBIs in Game 2.
Jocelyne Galvan earned her second win of the season after hurling four scoreless innings in relief of starter Hope Quinones. Galvan struck out three batters before giving way to Aracely Guzman who came on to close the game in the seventh inning.
The Jaguars square off with Texas College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
