Men’s golf holds steady in Top 10 of Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll
NORMAN, Okla. – The UHV men's golf team is holding steady in the Top 10 of the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.
On Friday, it was announced the Jaguars maintained their No. 10 ranking, sharing the spot with Truett McConnell who moved up four spots.
UHV, which is also ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25, has put together two strong tournaments to open the year.
The Jaguars finished third at the Texas Intercollegiate hosted by Texas Wesleyan, which was ranked No. 3 in this week's poll, and then sixth at the Waco River Classic, which featured five teams which finished in the Top 10 at last year's NJCAA tournament, including the defending national champions New Mexico Junior College, as well as several NCAA Division I individual golfers.
Senior Joshua Van der Wath and junior Paul Chopin have each turned in Top 5 finishes this season for UHV.
Chopin used rounds of 68-68-75—211 (-5) to finish T-4 at the Texas Intercollegiate on Sept. 10. Van der Wath, a third team NAIA All-American in 2024, fired rounds of 70-73-70—213 (-3) in Waco to also finish T-4.
UHV is scheduled to host Division I programs Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern in a tri-match at The Club at Colony Creek on Thursday, Oct. 17. Then, the team will host its annual Fall Classic Oct. 21-22 at Colony Creek and Riverside Golf Course.
