Bio
Doug Heinold begins his 17th season as the Jaguars’ Assistant Coach. He has been apart of the UHV Baseball Program since it's inagural season in 2008.
In 2009, Heinold helped pitchers Austin Hitt and Ray Maldonado earn all-conference awards, and Maldonado was named a second team All-American. In 2010, pitcher Broc Haymon was the NAIA’s earned run leader, as well as an all-conference selection, and in 2011, he was named the A.i.i. Conference Pitcher of the Year.
Coming off the 2014 season, pitcher Andre Del Bosque also earned A.i.i. Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and became the first UHV player ever drafted in the MLB Free Agent Draft going to the New York Yankees 38th round.
Heinold was a first-round draft pick of the New York Yankees in 1973 (drafted 13th overall) following a standout high school career at Stroman High School. He worked his way up to play AAA baseball and hold a 40-man roster spot in the Yankees organization before an arm injury cut his career short.
