Jags fall to NCAA DI A&M-Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI – UHV's seven-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday.
The Jaguars fell 14-1 in seven innings on the road against NCAA Division I opponent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Chapman Field.
UHV (16-7) scattered five hits in the loss, including a two-hit performance from junior infielder Juan Martin.
Juan Perez picked up the lone RBI for the Jaguars with an RBI fielder's choice in the seventh inning to score Hayden Leopold.
Leopold and Raul Lopez each had a hit Wednesday night, extending their hitting streaks to eight and nine games respectively.
Brady Parker (4-2) was charged with the loss after allowing one run on one hit and one walk in an inning of work.
Ryan Rodriguez threw 0.2 innings with five runs – three earned – allowed. Carson McKenna threw a scoreless 1.1 innings behind Rodriguez.
Matthew Mejia threw two innings while Drew Bradbury threw an inning out of the bullpen.
The Islanders (10-10) scored five runs in the second inning before McKenna entered the game. Four runs in each the fifth and sixth innings rounded out the scoring for A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Jaguars return to Red River Athletic Conference play with a three-game set at University of the Southwest, starting with a 1 p.m. (CT) doubleheader in Hobbs, New Mexico.
