Jags improve to finish 4th at Texas Cup

DESOTO – The UHV women's golf team concluded play at the Texas Cup hosted by NCAA Division III University of Texas at Dallas on Tuesday.

The Jaguars (334-330—664) improved four strokes to finish fourth, five strokes ahead of the University of Dallas at Thorntree Country Club.

Emmily Bickelmann turned in her sixth consecutive round in the 70s after shooting a 79 on the Par 72 course and finished T-10. The junior from Weisbaden, Germany, had a team-leading three birdies on the final day of the tournament.

Cecelia Niemietz (83-81—164, T-21), Mia Lerma (88-82—170, T-26) and Caitlyn Niemietz (85-88—173, 29th) all turned in Top 30 finishes.

The Niemietz twins, of Cibolo, each had a pair of birdies on their card.

Kaitlin Lopez (90-94—184) finished 37th.

The Jaguars will next compete in the Texas Wesleyan Spring Invite, April 15-16, at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park, Texas. It will be their last regular season tournament before hosting the Red River Athletic Conference tournament at the end of April.
