Rolfsen named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week
WACO, TX – The Red River Athletic Conference named UHV's Einar Rolfsen its Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Rolfsen scored two goals in the opening two matches to help the Jaguars to a 1-0-1 start to the season.
"Einar has made an immediate impact for us," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "He's shown a willingness to do whatever the team needs and put that on display in the first week. He earned this recognition."
It only took the Norwegian freshman 30 minutes to open his UHV scoring tally, netting the opening goal of a 2-2 draw with Texas Wesleyan in the season opener on Thursday with assists from Ryan Naidoo and Diby Kouassi.
Against Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday, Rolfsen's touch on a cross from Jose Martinez found the back of the net in the 65th minute and proved to be the winner in a 2-0 result for the team's first win of the season.
"I'm grateful for the recognition, but even happier I was able to help our team," Rolfsen said. "This is a credit to us working together as a team. We had a good first week, now we want to build on it. Hopefully this is the first of many for our team."
The Jaguars face Wiley College in non-conference play on Thursday at Houston Amateur Sports Park.
