SHREVEPORT, La. – The UHV men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season
The Jaguars (3-1-1, 1-1-0) fell 2-1 on Thursday to LSU Shreveport (4-3-1, 2-1-0) despite a second-half goal from Yahir Pena.
Pena scored in the 54th minute to equalize the game after Adam Gonzalez scored the game's opening goal in the 45th. It was the fifth goal in the last two matches for the Pharr native.
Pena and Einar Rolfsen each had two shots on goal in the game as the Jaguars posted 11 total shots with five on goal. Rolfsen led the team with three total shots and provided the assist on Pena's goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli made a season-high six saves in the loss, including five in the second half to keep the Jaguars within striking distance.
Alex Golder scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute for the Pilots.
The loss snapped an 18-game unbeaten run in regular season matches and a three-game winning streak for the Jaguars.
UHV faces Texas A&M-Texarkana at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Texarkana in RRAC action.
