Spree-Kolos’ early goal lifts Jags to pivotal win over LSU Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Kyleigh Spree-Kolos kept her hot streak going on Thursday.

The Victoria native scored in her fifth consecutive match to help UHV to a crucial 1-0 road win over Red River Athletic Conference foe LSU Alexandria.

Spree-Kolos finished a pass from Estelle Flanagan in the fourth minute to put the Jaguars (9-2-0, 6-2-0) in front and en route to their fourth consecutive win. It was her 11th goal this season, moving her two away from tying the single season record shared by Sheliat Akapo (2013) and Emily Lupton (2015).

Sophomore goalkeeper Franciezca Blancaflor earned her second shutout of the season and improved to 5-1 this season after making eight saves. The Salado native made six saves in the second half to preserve the clean sheet, including a crucial double save against the Generals (5-5-2, 4-2-2) in the 61st minute.

Spree-Kolos, Estelle Flanagan and Chloe Spencer shared the team-lead in shots with two apiece.

With the win, UHV moves to 18 points in the RRAC Standings and one point behind third-place Texas A&M-Texarkana and Louisiana Christian, which the Jaguars play on Saturday.
