Jags set for first road test at LSU Shreveport

The UHV women's soccer team is set to hit the road for the first time this season when it travels to LSU Shreveport on Thursday.

The Jaguars (3-0-2, 1-0-0) made it through their first four home games unbeaten before Saturday's game against Jarvis Christian was suspended in the first half.

Prior to Saturday, UHV scored a 5-0 win over Texas College to open play in the Red River Athletic Conference with five players finding the back of the net.

"We're excited to get on the road and play against quality teams," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "We've had some good performances lately, so we're looking forward to the upcoming competition."

The Jaguars have gotten offensive contributions, be it goals or assists, from 13 different players this season.

Estelle Flanagan added a goal and an assist last week to bring her season point total up to six (2 G, 2 A). Kaydee Cox did the same against Texas College and posted 10 shots, one off the single-game record last accomplished by Tori Sifuentes in 2021.

Kaitlyn McCarty, Rosa Reyes and Arantza Alva each scored their first goal of the season in Thursday's win.

The Jaguars extended their regular season unbeaten run to 12 matches with Thursday's win and forfeit by Wiley College for Sept. 7's scheduled contest.

UHV took a scoreless draw against the Pilots last season at The Cage.

LSU Shreveport enters Thursday with a 2-3-1 record overall and 0-1-1 in RRAC play after a scoreless draw against Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday.
