Lerma in Top 10 after CAC opening round
SAN ANTONIO – UHV's Mia Lerma is in the Top 10 after the first day of the Continental Athletic Conference women's golf tournament on Monday at The Golf Club of Texas.
The senior from Mission carded a 7-over 79 to sit in a tie for seventh place with Victoria's (B.C.) Kat Hodgson.
Lerma made four birdies on the Lee Trevino-designed course to shoot in the 70s for the fifth time in her last six rounds.
UHV is in fourth place with a team score of 344.
Caitlyn Niemietz shot an 87 to finish the opening round in 16th.
Kaitlyn Lopez and Evelyn Nguyen each shot an 89 and sit in a three-way tie.
Cecelia Niemietz (92) was in 22nd after the first day.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
