Jags split with LSU Alexandria in conference play

A walk-off, two-run single in a run rule win highlighted UHV softball's doubleheader split with LSU Alexandria on Saturday at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.

Bases-loaded walks from Madysin Leighton and Kenzie Chambers to score Jordan Jones and Jayce Bolin in the fifth inning set Kaylle Lopez up for a two-run single to win Game 1 9-1. UHV (18-6, 10-2) fell 9-4 in Game 2.

Lopez finished the doubleheader with five RBIs, upping her season total to 41 which leads the nation. She had three in Game 1's win.

Chambers went 4-for-6 with four RBIs against the Generals (20-7, 10-2) to improve her batting average to .494, a mark that leads the Red River Athletic Conference.

Six different players notched RBIs in Game 1.

Chambers, Lopez, Eryn Sanchez, Claire Blinka and Alana Ortega had doubles on Saturday.

Cameron Cowan improved to 11-2 on the season after allowing one unearned run on four hits in five innings in Game 1.

Anyssia Mendoza was the pitcher of record in Game 2.

The Jaguars next travel to No. 1 ranked Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday.
