No. 14 Jags eliminated from NAIA Tournament

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The University of Houston-Victoria baseball team had its season come to an end on Tuesday.

The Jaguars fell 13-4 to St. Xavier University (Ill.) on Tuesday in an elimination game at the Lawrenceville Bracket of the 2025 NAIA Baseball National Championship at Georgia Gwinnett College's Grizzly Baseball Complex.

UHV's season comes to a close with a 38-17 record, which set the record for most wins in a single season for the program.

The Jaguars fell behind 2-0 in the first two innings before scoring four runs to take a 4-2 lead in the third. Cristian Garcia sparked the rally with a two-run double to tie the game before Terry Burrel III and Brady Thompson scored on an error four batters later to make it 4-2 Jaguars.

The Cougars (32-23) then scored 11 unanswered runs to take the game.

Garcia was the lone Jaguar with an RBI. He, DeeAndre Torres, Rafael Gutierrez, Xavier Ortega and Jean Michael Gonzalez each had a hit in the game.

Brady Parker suffered the loss after allowing five runs – three of which were earned – on five hits and six walks against four strikeouts before being lifted with no outs in the fourth. Ryan Rodriguez, Justin Mireles, Matthew Mejia and Mason Longoria had relief outings behind Parker.

This marks the end of the UHV careers for Garcia, Gutierrez, Gonzalez, Longoria, Hal Perez, Juan Perez, Alejandro Belo, Rafael Gutierrez, Drew Bradbury and Julian Garcia.
