Jags place nine on All-RRAC teams

MONROE, La. – Nine UHV baseball players earned 10 awards on the 2025 All-Red River Athletic Conference teams announced Wednesday ahead of the conference tournament.

The Jaguars (37-13) placed four on the first team, four on the second team, had one Gold Glover and one Champion of Character.

Hal Perez, Terry Burrel III, Jonathan Jones and Brady Parker were the four to earn some of the highest honors in the conference.

Perez, a senior catcher from Camuy, Puerto Rico, has hit a team-leading seven home runs this season with 46 RBIs and a .320 batting average.

Burrel is hitting .358 and has a team-leading 29 stolen bases this season. His .989 fielding percentage as UHV's everyday center fielder led to him winning a Gold Glove, as well.

Jones and Parker have headlined UHV's pitching staff, which ranks third in the NAIA in ERA (3.50). Jones boasts a 3.52 ERA in 84.1 innings of work over 14 starts this season while Parker ranks fourth nationally in strikeouts with 103.

Cristian Garcia, DeeAndre Torres, Julian Garcia and Mason Longoria earned Second Team honors.

Cristian Garcia leads the RRAC in batting average, hitting at a .462 clip with 33 RBIs and four home runs this season. DeeAndre Torres has been a strong leadoff hitter, going .362 at the plate in 50 games this season with 33 RBIs and 50 runs scored.

On the mound, Julian Garcia leads the team in ERA with a 2.41 mark in 82 innings of work this season. Mason Longoria has consistently gotten the job done for the Jaguars, earning 11 wins on the mound.

Alejandro Belo was named UHV's Champion of Character representative.

The Jaguars enter the RRAC Tournament this week at the Sterlington Sports Complex in Sterlington, Louisiana, as the No. 2 seed and face seventh-seeded University of the Southwest at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the opening round.
