Ashley Walyuchow has guided the athletic department since its inception in fall 2006 and has grown the department from 2 sports and 50 student athletes to 6 sports and over 140 student athletes. For his service and accomplishments, Walyuchow was recognized as a NACDA 2015-16 Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year in the NAIA. He serves on the NAIA's National Administrative Council, the NAIA-ADA Board of Directors and the UHV President's Cabinet. Prior to being named the first AD in UHV history, Walyuchow was hired as the first development professional at UHV in 2000. Walyuchow's past experiences include co-host of a morning radio show, front-office experience in minor-league baseball and player-coach of the collegiate hockey club at Washington State University. He also has over 20 years experience in radio as a play by play announcer calling a variety of sports including: professional baseball, high school and college football, high school and college basketball and college and junior hockey. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Washington State University. He is married to Cheryl and has two daughters, Tylar and Ashton and a new grandson. 9 rescue dogs and 3 rescue cats are also part of the family.
